What Do I Complain About the Most?

When I came across today’s daily writing prompt at work, I didn’t think much of it at first. But as the day went on, my mind latched onto the question: “What do I complain about the most?”

And let me tell you—that was a mistake.

From that moment on, everything else became background noise. Meetings felt irrelevant, conversations blurred, and though I was physically present, my mind was miles away. You see, I’m an overthinker, and until I found my answer, I couldn’t move on.

So, here it is.

Life Isn’t Fair.

If I had to pinpoint the thing I complain about the most, it would be how unfair life can be.

Here’s what you need to understand—I come from nothing. Even now, I’m doing my best to build something meaningful, something I can look back on and proudly say, “I did that!” But the journey isn’t easy. Today, I’d say I’m about 80% successful (I love using percentages).

So why do I still feel like life is unfair?

Because every time I take one step forward, life pushes me five steps back.

Let Me Explain

For eighteen years, I’ve worked for the same employer. The pay is steady, I get to travel the world, I have the privilege of mentoring young people, and I can provide for my family. By most measures, I’m doing well.

So why do I still feel like I’m constantly being pulled back?

Because every time I try to branch out—whether it’s launching a business, growing my following, or making this blog something meaningful—life tugs at my shirt and pulls me back.

Then that little voice in my head says: “Stop complaining! Other people have it worse!”

But Here’s the Truth

I complain about life not being fair because complaining is easy. But let’s be real—it solves nothing.

At the end of the day, I’m just human. I want more than what life handed me growing up. And sure, life isn’t fair. But guess what? Millions of people feel the same way.

So instead of dwelling on what’s unfair, I’m choosing to focus on what I do have. I’ll keep grinding, keep pushing, and keep moving forward—even when life pushes me a couple of steps back.

Because if life won’t be fair, at least I can be relentless.
